We are thrilled with our newest addition to the print shop. We recently acquired a 1967 10″x15″ Heidelberg Windmill Redball Printing Press. We got it from a good home in PA, where it was used by a retired trade printer for over 40 years. He kept it in beautiful shape, but we did take a good long day to give it a thorough scrub down. It’s looking shiny once again after scraping off decades of grease and ink. We are very excited to get this thing up and running soon!
There are only 4 days left until Opening Night of the 39th Cleveland International Film Festival! As always, we had a blast working with the CIFF team, they are a great group of people doing amazing things for the city of Cleveland. And we are very pleased with the way everything turned out this year, the installation work in Tower City looks amazing, as well as the pieces installed throughout the city. We hope to see everybody at the Film Festival this year!
We just want to say thanks to everybody who attended our AIGA LETTERPRESS WORKSHOP II this past Saturday, we had a great time meeting some new friends here in Cleveland. Thank you AIGA Cleveland for letting us do this event again, and thank you to Zygote Press for helping us out with a press when our new parts went missing during delivery! We hope to see everybody again at our next workshop in the future!

We’re back at it again! We will be hosting our second AIGA Cleveland Letterpress workshop here at the Type Twenty Seven Studio. It’s happening on February 28th, only two weeks from now! We are very excited to host this event once more, we had a blast at the previous one designing & printing posters with participants. This time around we will be doing greeting cards on our smaller presses. We are looking forward to some fun times, and creative prints from our guests. We printed this beauty of an event poster last weekend for Aaron Draplin’s visit to The University of Akron’s, Myer’s School of Art this week. He will be doing two workshops for design students, and a lecture Thursday evening. Check it out!
So last week we had a fun day printing with our good friend John Noga, we designed and printed an example of letterpress ephemera for an upcoming exhibition by the artist Jennifer Vanderpool. The exhibit entitled ”Blue Ridge Mist” was curated by John Noga and Kevin Concannon, and will be presented at the Armory Gallery in the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech University.
